Welcome back to this little mini-series on preparing the mind for months to come.
To quickly recap, in the last post we talked about the Power of Intent and focus, and the affect it can have on our productivity. (In a very positive way.)
Today I wanted to build upon the last email I sent out, and stack some more great idea’s and exercises to get you ready for the new year, and for kick starting (or igniting that passion again) your journey into the Tax Lien & Deed world.
Now, in regards to consistency, we have 2 sides to view from (And I’ll use quotes to state each point):
1. Consistency is the hallmark of the Unimaginative. – Oscar Wilde
2. A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
So, in regards to the Wilde quote, we can very easily fall into the trap of doing the same thing over and over, and it become a bad habit, and an extremely wasteful use of our precious time. (Consistency as a bad thing – starting off from a bad place.)
But that is why I LOVE the Emerson quote – It more accurately states the “Foolish Consistency” aspect of it. (Which I believe is what oscar Wilde was referring to.)
Consistency can be one of the most powerful tools you have in building the best version of you, a successful business, beautiful relationships etc.
BUT, you have to be very sure of what will bring you growth, and what will push you to step outside of that comfortable consistency, into the growth zone consistency.
(Growth zone – the area right outside your comfort zone, that tugs your heart strings. But before the part of you that wants to die when you think of it. (ex: Bungee jumping may be outside the growth zone for some of you. Others it may be your growth zone. It varies for each person. Search yourself, or get someone to help you find yours.)
Living in consistency with stepping outside your comfort zone, and investing in the things that will help you succeed is both a scary, yet powerful way to live.
This is why the morning exercise (ritual, meditation etc) I gave you yesterday is SO powerful. It is consistent in a way that gives you the space you need to grow.
Its not that you are trying to think of the exact same things every morning and night for the rest of your life (bad consistency) – because things will change. Your goals will change, and as you succeed, you will begin to have more precise focus’ and desires. But rather it is being consistent in allowing yourself to be free with desires and goals.
Its the consistency in the frameworks that you connect with, that will really help you.
We see it all the time – and you know what I mean – New years. New Gym plans. New Diet plans. But what do we lack? The consistency. And this can be because of THOUSANDS of reasons. But in the end it is all excuses. (Sorry, its the truth.)
We all have excuses. We all have reasons for quitting.
But finding a framework that fits for you (Ex: Maybe getting a home gym, or a Crossfit Membership, or running on a track suits you better than going to a Male Dominated Gym) and connecting with it, then being CONSISTENT, will skyrocket your chances of success.
Just remember this, if nothing else:
Consistency is simple, but it doesn’t mean its easy. It’s a commitment. A commitment to something bigger than you, and to your desires. So when you look back in 2 months, 6 months, 2 years, you will smile and say, “Yeah, I did it. Dang it was tough, but I did it.”
So as you move into the coming months, make a commitment to yourself, whatever it may be (use your morning exercise!), and be consistent. Read this email again, and tell your friends about your goals, and know that I’m rooting for yah.
And I’ll leave you with this quote from our dear friend Anthony Robbins:
“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.”
Stay consistent and healthy!
